nn nnPosition Summary: Overseeing of all Safety, Environmental and Worker’s Compensation functions necessary to support the organization. Manages any assigned staff, chairs safety teams, completes strategic planning in line with the goals of the corporation. nnEssential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following: nn· Manage Safety and Environmental functions for a multi-location, manufacturing operation. nn· Consults and supports Plant Management teams with the implementation of Safety roadmaps (SES) nn· Ensure areas of responsibility are following TQM, ISO, QS, TS and MI-OSHA practices and compliance requirements. nn· Act as management representative for related standards. nn· Facilitate development of a strategic plan that includes all related actions to meet growth, improve operational safety, and reduce accidents and costs. nn· Staff Management: nn· Conduct timely and complete performance evaluations of direct associates; and ensure timely and complete performance evaluations of associates reporting under indirect supervision nn· Assess subordinate’s skill sets, current and future development needs and take steps to mentor and develop them appropriately nn· Identify safety and environmental issues then develop solutions. nn· Develop and maintain safety and environmental programs and policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. nn· Participate in developmental opportunities necessary to stay current with changes in applicable laws and other safety trends. nn· Participate actively in development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of company selected manufacturing software systems as required. nn· Develop and deliver educational and training programs when necessary. nn· Consultant, as needed to sister companies and their safety & environmental programs. nn· Build and maintain an excellent relationship, emphasizing partnership, with worker’s compensation carrier and other vendors. nn· Identify and train a back-up(s) to manage key tasks when absent. nn· Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader. nnnn nnPosition Skills and Experience Requirements: nnTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty effectively.
