GRAND HAVEN, MICH.- Ottawa County United Way presented Shape Corp. with the Cappon & Bertsch Community Builder Award 2011 for having the number one campaign in the northern area of the county and the number two campaign overall.
For the 2010-2011 campaign, Pliant Plastics, Shape’s sister company, joined Shape’ campaign. Together, they set a goal of $110,000 in employee giving. The goal was exceeded by raising $150,000 and 63 percent of associates participated in the campaign. These numbers significantly outshined the 2009-2010 campaign, which included 90 shape associates, who volunteered nearly 2,500 hours of service.
To receive this award, campaigns must meet all five award criteria during the campaign year. Campaign award criteria include; an increase of employee giving from the previous year; at least a $200 average gift per donor; 50 percent or more participation in campaign giving; employee volunteer involvement with United Way; and three or more employees giving at the lighthouse leadership circle level.
“Shape has always kept a watchful eye on the needs of their local community,” said Louann Werksma, director of development, Greater Ottawa County United Way. “Their lasting dedication to United Way has resulted in significant annual investments to advance the common good Ottawa County.”
Shape’s United Way committee members begin planning the annual campaign that kicks off in July, every February. The committee meets weekly to set goals for the campaign and strategize ways to reach them.
