GRAND HAVEN, MICH.- The American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division presented Shape Corp. with the Five Star Investor Silver Star Award on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.
The award recognizes Shape’s workplace program for their commitment to improving the health and well-being of their employees and family members. In 2004, Shape implemented the Shape Family Wellness program to fulfill this commitment. Since implementation, the company has insured 5,000 associates and their families, enrolled 1,800 in health improvement programs and helped associates lose 7,000 pounds.

To receive this award, campaigns must meet nine of the twelve standards of the Five Star Investor Award, with a minimum of one standard in each category. Categories include: access to quality treatment and clinical trials; community engagement; nutrition, physical activity and healthy weight; screening and early detection; and tobacco control. Workplaces that adopt the standards are committed to designing health promotion campaigns that target year-around health behaviors; establish a culture that fosters a healthy lifestyle and provides support during a cancer journey; and offers benefits and programs that lower the risk of cancer incidence.
The American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division Five Star Investor criteria is designed to simplify and clarify cost-effective prevention strategies that engage employees in the community based mission delivery and mission support activities.
